Change a line's stations
A line's stations are the station blocks of its spotlight_line resource,
in the order they appear on the board. You need the line in Terraform. If your factory isn't in Terraform yet,
make the factory yours first.
Change a station
Edit the station's block. A station keeps its tasks through any change except a
change to its key.
station {
key = "implementation"
name = "Implementation"
harness = "claude-code"
model = "<model>"
effort = "high"
prompt = file("${path.module}/prompts/core/delivery/implementation.md")
decisions = true
memories = true
tools = [spotlight_integration.core_linear.tools["comment"]]
skills = [spotlight_skill.core_grafana.key]
passes_to = ["code-review"]
}- To change what the agent is told, edit the station's prompt file under
prompts/. The downloaded module reads each prompt withfile(). - To change the agent, set
harnesstoclaude-code,codexorcursor, and optionallymodelandeffort. Left out,modelandeffortare the harness's own defaults. - To change where a task may go next, list station keys in
passes_to.
Station fields lists the rest, such as
ends, diffs, check, decisions and memories. Tools, skills and profiles have
guides of their own:
Give stations a tool from an HTTP API,
Give stations a skill and
Limit what agents may do.
Run terraform apply, then open the station from the board to check the
result. The Station page shows its harness, model, prompt and skills.
Add a station
Add a station block between the backlog and the completed station, at the
place it should appear on the board, and add its key to the passes_to of each
station that hands tasks to it:
station {
key = "spec"
name = "Spec"
harness = "claude-code"
prompt = file("${path.module}/prompts/core/delivery/spec.md")
passes_to = ["implementation"]
}Leave out kind; a station without one is a work station, where agents run.
Run terraform apply.
Remove a station
Move every task off the station, as in Add a task and move it along a line. Moving a task to the backlog or to Completed starts no run.
Delete the station's block. Remove its key from every other station's
passes_to and from every reaction that names it in to or from.
Run terraform apply.
If tasks still stand on the station, Terraform reports that the line "would
strand work" at it and names how many tasks stand there. Move them and run
terraform apply again. Changing a station's key counts as removing the station and adding
another, so the same applies.
If Terraform refuses the layout
- If it reports the stations "must open with their backlog", move the station
with
kind = "backlog"to the top. - If it reports they "must close with completed", move the station with
kind = "completed"to the bottom. - If it reports they "must end where they end", remove
passes_tofrom the completed station. - If it reports a station "must hand on to a station work is done at", remove
the backlog or completed station from that station's
passes_to. - If it reports stations "must not hand on to themselves", remove the station's
own key from its
passes_to. - If it reports that a repository "has to say how its checkout is made ready",
a station has both
checkanddiffs = true: give every repository of the line asetup.
